A woman has been arrested and a teacher has been taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing attack at a NSW primary school.
The female school parent was taken into custody after she allegedly stabbed a male teacher with a pair of scissors at Byron Bay primary school on Tuesday morning.
The attack reportedly took place at Byron Bay Public School on Kingsley Street around 7.20am, according to Sydney Morning Herald.
Police were called to the school and it was put into lockdown as a search commenced for the alleged attacker.
The woman was arrested around 11am and is assisting police with enquiries.
The 29-year-old male teacher was taken to hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
‘Counselling has been made available to staff and students. All further enquiries about the incident should be directed to NSW Police,’ a spokesperson for the NSW Department of Education said.
It is understood not many children were present in the school during the alleged attack.
