A young father has passed away after being stung by a bee while mowing the lawn at his Kellyville home earlier this month.
Sam Fitzsimons, 25, was stung on his upper lip which caused severe swelling and breathing difficulties, before collapsing in the bathroom of his home.
Rushed to Westmead Hospital, the young father sadly passed away the following day, leaving behind his partner and seven-month-old baby.
The incident has triggered a police investigation into bee hives owned by the man’s neighbour, who is believed to be an amateur beekeeper.
However, Inspector Stephen Fowler from The Hills Local Area Command has said the cause of the man’s death has not yet been confirmed and is being investigated by the Coroner.
