A 53-day-old baby has tragically died after being brutally ripped from the womb of his mother during her murder.
Chicago baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez spent his short life hooked up to support machines after suffering brain damage when he was cut from Marlen Ochoa-Lopez’ stomach.
The child passed away last Friday morning in his father Yovany Lopez’s arms 53 days after his mother was savagely killed.
‘It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of baby Yovanny Jadiel Lopez,’ reads the statement from the family.
Ochoa-Lopez, 19, was found dead three weeks after she went missing.
The young mother was lured to her death under the guise of buying baby clothes and was strangled with a cord.
When she was deceased, her baby was forcibly cut from her womb while alleged killers Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and Desiree Figueroa, 24, disposed of the mother’s body.
Mother and daughter Clarisa and Desiree Figueroa were charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery of a child under 13 in the attack on Ochoa-Lopez.
Chicago police believe the pair wanted to steal the baby and ‘raise him as their own’, according to People.
Desiree’s boyfriend Piotr Bobak, 40, was also charged over his alleged involvement.
The family’s attorney Frank Avila faced the media and called for justice.
‘The baby did not just die, the baby was murdered and we demand justice,’ he said.
