A US mother claims her little girl was brutally mocked for her unusual name by an airline ticket agent.
Traci Redford, from El Paso, Texas, alleges the Southwest Airlines gate agent laughed after reading her five-year-old daughter’s boarding pass.
According to ABC7, the agent made fun of the girl’s name – which is Abcde, pronounced as ‘Ab-city’.
‘The gate agent started laughing, pointing at me and my daughter, talking to other employees,’ Ms Redford said.
‘So I turned around and said, “Hey if I can hear you, my daughter can hear you, so I’d appreciate if you’d just stop”.’
Ms Redford also claims the airline employee took a photo of Abcde’s boarding pass and posted it to social media.
‘She said “Mum, why is she laughing at my name?”‘ the woman added.
Southwest Airlines has since apologised for the incident and said the employee in question has been ‘spoken to’.
