So if you ever needed an excuse to organise a girls night this is it!

‘People with larger and/or more integrated network suffer less illness, recover quicker from surgery, are less likely to die – and even their children are less likely to die.’ Professor of evolutionary psychology Dr. Robin Dunbar told the Huffington Post.

‘For both sexes having a large, well-integrated social network has a significant impact on both physical and emotional health,’ he continued.

The study from the UK surveyed groups of individuals after they hung out with friends at a soccer match and after they played with friends via online gaming.

The results showed that the real-life experience far outweighed the enjoyment scale when measure against the online experience – no surprise there!

Dr. Robin Dunbar also stated that men typically have four or five good friends whilst women tend to focus on one relationship who they consider their ‘BFF’.
