A woman has discovered why her dad set unusual conditions when she asked to get her legs waxed as a teenager.
Sharing the hilarious story on Reddit, the woman, using the name Carlinha, said she was 16 when she asked her father if she could get her legs waxed in the lead up to her formal. She wasn’t particularly close with her mum, but sad her dad was always very involved so she never felt like she missed out on anything.
My dad was very hesitant. He first said no, not yet, but as prom was approaching I became more and more insistent and he just said fine, that he’d do some research and book an appointment,’ she wrote on Reddit.
But when her dad finally booked her the appointment, her dad had one particular condition.
‘No upper legs,’ she wrote. ‘We convinced him to do a couple inches from my knees, because… dresses and skirts, but not more than that.’
But it wasn’t until a decade later, when Carlinha booked another appointment with the woman who had waxed her legs for the first time, that she discovered the reason for her dad’s restriction.
‘She told me that before my first appointment, my dad had called her and booked an appointment for himself. After he was done, he told her that he really didn’t enjoy any of it but that his 16 year old daughter wanted to her her legs waxed and that he wanted to try it first,’ she wrote.
He booked an appointment for his girl the next day, but he rang the next day to tell her that he had bruising on his upper legs and that it hurt.
‘So he vetoed the upper leg for me,’ Carlinha posted.
‘It was just another reminder of how thoughtful he is and always was.’
People were quick to respond to the post, praising her father for his actions.
‘Man this is incredible. He went through it himself to make sure it’d be okay for you. That’s parenthood right there,’ wrote one user.
‘As a man with fairly hairy legs this made me cringe so hard, your dad is a braver man than I am,’ said another.
