"Everyone automatically assumes that we have some sort of arrangement, like a sugar daddy kind of thing.
"When people find out that we're married, they assume I'm in it for the money.
"Certain situations stick out in my mind - like when we went to the supermarket and we were stopped at the till.
"The cashier was just joking around, but we were buying stationary - she asked if Robert was buying me it to head to college with.
"Most of the time we can laugh it off, but sometimes it can be really awkward - we're happily married, age is literally just a number.
"I think most girls that date older men are wanting their money but that’s what makes our relationship different.
"I couldn't care less if Robert had money or not."
Despite the age gap spanning more than four decades, Courtney and Robert say they're happier than ever and it was love at first sight.
Courtney said: "Robert has mesmerising eyes, and I think that's why I was attracted to him at first - he's also in really good shape for his age.
"My family took some time to realise it was real, but it took about two months into the relationship for my mum especially to come around to it.
"Initially she hated it but the rest of my family didn't care, as long as I was happy.
"Now, my mum loves him and Robert and my brother are a lot alike - which is scary considering there's forty years or more between them.
"The wedding was very private and we didn't tell anyone that we'd got married until after it was over, because we didn't want to hear any backlash.
"I didn't wear a wedding dress to say our vows, I literally wore my normal clothes as to us, it was all about being married and being able to call Robert my husband."
