A Colorado teacher has been placed on administrative leave after reports a student’s mouth was taped shut.
The incident, which occurred at Campus Middle School in Greenwood Village, involved the teacher reportedly taping an eighth-graders mouth shut during a science class last week, the Denver Post reports.
"As soon as we learned of the allegations, we notified the Greenwood Village Police Department," district spokeswoman Tustin Amole said in a statement.
KDVR-TV reports the student's parents have also been notified, however, they said there were unaware of the incident.
“That teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The police have been notified," Amole added int he statement.
The incident is currently being investigated. Officials believe there might be video footage.
Disciplinary action will not be taken until the completion of the investigation.
In a statement, the district said: “The incident is deeply troubling and does not reflect the values of the Cherry Creek School District. We are committed to ensuring that our schools provide a safe and caring environment for all students.”
