New York Hot Dogs
Prep: 30 Minutes - Cook: 8 Minutes - Serves 6

Home cooked never tasted SO good! 

Ingredients

  • 6 continental frankfurters
  • 1 tblsp olive oil
  • 6 soft hot dog rolls
  • Sliced dill cucumbers and tomato sauce, to serve

CARAMELISED ONIONS

  • 1 tblsp olive oil
  • 3 small onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tblsps brown sugar

SPICY MUSTARD

  • ½ cup American mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp dried chilli flakes

Method

  1. To make caramelised onions, heat oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes, or until softened. Add sugar. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes, or until caramelised. Transfer to a bowl.

  2. Meanwhile, toss frankfurters in oil in a medium bowl. 

  3. Heat a grill plate over a medium to high heat. Add frankfurters. Cook, turning occasionally, for about 8 minutes, or until heated through.

  4. To make spicy mustard, combine mustard, paprika and chilli in a small bowl.

  5. To serve, split rolls lengthways down the centre. Fill rolls with frankfurters, dill cucumbers and caramelised onions. Drizzle with tomato sauce and spicy mustard.
