A devastated mum has opened up about the tragic cause of her baby boy’s death in a heartbreaking post after being harshly attacked by anti-vaxxer trolls.
‘Initially I had not wanted to explain the detailed circumstances of his death because of my guilt and the fear,’ she writes.
'But I will not allow anyone to try and place blame where it does not belong.’
Next to a black and white photo of herself laying next to her older son, Rowan, clutching a blanket and crying, she explains how 7-month-old Sloan died.
Sloan had been laid down to bed with his favourite blanket by his great-great-grandmother. As he slept he became tangled in it, and died.
‘He had pulled it through the crib rails somehow and gotten himself stuck in it,’ Jordan explains.
‘You never think it will happen to you. You never think it will be your baby.’
‘I will NEVER stop feeling responsible. I will relive this for the rest of my life knowing EXACTLY what I could have done differently. Please learn from my world shattering mistake.’
‘Please do not put your babies to bed with a blanket. Please.’
The post has been shared over 14K times, and has received over 7.5K comments of love and support for the heartbroken family.
‘My heart aches for you. I hope one day you can feel some kind of peace,’ one wrote.
Another added: ‘Thank you for being so open and honest. I hear these stories all the time in support groups and know that many parents are fearful of being so honest. You are saving others by doing so. Your baby boy is proud of you for your strength. I am so sorry for your loss. 💙’
Many begging the young mum to not blame herself: ‘My heart aches for you and your family but please, don't blame yourself. Sharing your story is hard, I can only imagine and it saddens me that you even had to, that people pass judgement to the point you felt the need to defend yourself and family. It's not your fault 💙’
‘This is a very brave share. Thanks for thinking of others you might help. May God bring you peace.’
