Kirsty McKenzie and her husband had been trying for a baby for almost a year when they finally got the exciting news they’d been waiting for. But while the couple held off posting it on social media, someone did it for them.
‘Not only was I emotionally gutted, but I was incredibly nervous,’ she said in an article published on Kidspot. ‘What would happen if I miscarried? I wasn’t prepared to make that additional announcement down the track.’
Blogger Kirsty, who launched The Mummysomniac in 2015 and writes about the highs and lows of motherhood, said her phone was soon buzzing with messages.
‘Many were well-meaning messages of congratulations, although some were disappointed that they had to find out from someone else,’ she said.
That wasn’t the only time it happened either.
‘The birth of our first baby was announced by not one, but two separate people, before we’d even had the chance to tell all of our nearest and dearest ourselves,’ she revealed.
