We’re hearing a lot these days about the benefits of gut bacteria. For some people, like Emma, the procedure is simply miraculous for helping treat chron’s, colitis and IBS. But it may have another benefit - helping you lose weight.
Scientists at the University of Toronto have been doing experiments to find out if transplanting poop can help combat obesity.
The theory is skinny people have gut bacteria that helps them stay skinny. Putting that bacteria into the body of an overweight person may change a person’s insulin sensitivity and affect the number of calories absorbed from food. Similarly, people who struggle to gain weight because of their health may benefit from poop transplants from people who find weight gain comes easily to them.
Modern science is amazing!
