New Zealand is in shock over a disturbing case of incest that has seen a father and daughter charged after having two children together.
The sick coupling – which began when the girl was a vulnerable 16 year old who had sought out her birth father after being raised elsewhere – has now resulted in criminal charges.
The pair, who are now 23 and 37, have been ordered to stay away from each other after DNA tests revealed the father was the biological parent of a second child with his daughter. A judge has described their incest as 'very serious repeat offending which strikes at the heart of what the community would consider right and proper conduct'.
The man has been sentenced to six months community detention and two years' intensive supervision, while the woman was sentenced to two years of intensive supervision.
In a further disturbing twist, it has been revealed the woman was herself the product of an illegal relationship – her father impregnated his 30 year old foster mother when he was aged just 13.
