A woman had to be escorted off a Jet2 flight bound for Turkey after police were called in a hijack scare when she allegedly ‘rushed the cockpit.’

In the commotion and panic, two Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon fighters were scrambled and the Airbus was intercepted and escorted back to Stansted Airport, UK.

A video obtained by The Sun, shows the woman being pinned down by six people and then being marched off the plane by police.

Passenger Amiy Varol was a few rows behind when the furore allegedly happened and took to Twitter to describe what happened.

‘So I get on a plane to turkey after being in the air for 45 mins some drunk lady (may be on drugs too) attacks the cabin crew and then tried to open the airplane door!!’ she wrote. ‘6 people are holding her down, she’s screaming biting people and now she’s in a seat being held down.’

Amiy then went on to describe how people on board were screaming and crying.

‘We were made aware of a disruptive passenger on an inbound flight to Stansted this evening, Saturday, June 22

‘Officers attended and arrested a 25-year-old woman on suspicion of two assaults and endangering an aircraft. She remains in custody.’

It’s believed the incident caused a hijack emergency which is why the RAF fighter jets were scrambled. The sonic boom of the aircrafts caused a flurry of emergency calls on the ground from concerned residents.

A Royal Air Force spokeswoman said: ‘We can confirm that RAF quick reaction alert Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby scrambled to escort a commercial flight into Stansted shortly after take-off due to reports of a disruptive passenger.’
