One woman was left baffled when an Australia Post worker threw a parcel on to the roof of her home!
According to 7 News, Merryl Lloyd was about to enter her northwest Sydney home when she spied a delivery slip tucked in the front door of the house.
Reading the note, she saw that that postie had written, ‘I accidentally threw your parcel on top of the roof, my apologies. Use maybe a broom to get it down.’
Ms Lloyd took to Facebook to share a snap of the note, alongside the package stuck in the guttering of roof.
Along with the photos, she wrote, ‘We got home from shopping and the little card was sitting in the screen door. The message said that the parcel was on the roof.’
She added, ‘We both looked at each other, then we stepped back up and just burst out laughing.’
Telling 7 News that she was ‘five foot one’, she wondered how she would get the parcel down.
Eventually, Ms Lloyd managed to retrieve the package by using an extendible mop. And luckily the jacket inside wasn’t damaged after being thrown on the roof.
Facebook users were quick to comment on how the parcel could ‘accidentally’ end up on a roof.
‘Why on earth would anyone throw a parcel on the roof? And then write it was accidental?’ one person wrote.
‘Accidentally???’ another simply said,
A spokesperson for Australia Post told news.com.au, ‘We have investigated what has happened in this case and are reach out to the customer as part of that process.
‘This behaviour is unacceptable, and we will be taking disciplinary action.’
