A single dad left devastated at the death of his wife decided to recreate his wedding photos with their 3-year-old daughter, Olivia, in a tribute that moved the world.

Their touching tribute brought Ben Nunery, then 31, comfort as it reminded him of the happy times they’d shared in their home where the photos were taken.

They were really good memories I cherish and want to remember. In a lot of ways, it felt like Ali was there, and doing that with Olivia I felt a closeness with both of them,’ Ben told Today.

Left heartbroken by the loss, Ben was certain he’d never fall for anyone ever again – but that’s not how it turned out.

Reaching out to her old school friend, Lesley Amann and her husband Mike reconnected with Ben after Ali’s death.

Sadly, Lesley received devastating news when she was 8 months pregnant. Her husband, Mike, was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away in 2013, he only knew his son Kaizer for a few brief months.

It was in this time that Lesley and Ben grew closer, having understood where the other was coming from, and romance soon blossomed from their friendship.

With their families blessings the couple married in 2016, and have now welcomed baby Nash into their family.

While some would call it a happy ending, after everything he and Lesley have been through, Ben feels differently about it:

‘Honestly, it feels weird for me to refer to this as a happy ending because I know it’s not an ending. This is just another chapter in many chapters, and who knows what else is in store, but it’s definitely a happy chapter for sure.’
