An Adelaide diner has claimed she was bullied by the owner of Victory Hotel, Doug Govan, after he described her as a ‘dim-witted imbecile’ on Facebook.
The row began when Emma-Jade Fowler took to Facebook to vent her frustrations after her reservation for 17 people at the restaurant was mistakenly booked for two people instead.
Leaving a short comment on the venue’s Facebook page, Fowler wrote ‘Terrible customer service, you should be ashamed victory hotel!’
Govan then fired back, writing ‘Terribly dim-witted Emma-Jade not-sure-what-my-first-name-should-be. Emma or Jade. Don’t get involved in something you don’t know anything about.’
Seemingly shocked at his response, Fowler then wrote ‘Wow I can’t believe a business would talk to people like this.’
The feud has since garnered attention from users of the social media site, who have had mixed reactions about the conversation.
‘Never had a bad experience here ever. Love your work guys and we will be coming in for dinner tonight. Can we get a table for 17, er, sorry I mean 2?!’ one person wrote in defence of the hotel.
Another person commented ‘Having seen the recent social media storm, I can say I will not ever be coming to any establishment run by such an obnoxious person such as Doug Govan.’
