Courageous burns survivor Turia Pitt doesn’t shy away from sharing her experiences of motherhood.

Since her son, Hakavai was born in December, Turia has been open about the joys and struggles of parenthood.

And, although she loves every minute of being a mum, she admitted on Instagram that adapting to life with a newborn can be challenging at times.

‘Parenting is hard. I’ve got a baby that sleeps, a supportive partner, parents and in-laws on speed dial, heaps of mates who’ve had babies and I’m still finding it really challenging and exhausting,’ she wrote alongside a snap of herself on social media.

She then went on to praise mothers everywhere.

‘To all the parents out there, you’re all legends, and you’re all doing a good job!!!’

What’s more, this isn’t the first time Turia has shared the challenges of parenting. The new mum previously wrote in her weekly newsletters about one particularly tough experience with her newborn bub.

‘You were screaming uncontrollably.

I’d checked your nappy,’ she shared with her followers.

‘Checked if you were too hot or too cold. Tried to feed you. Tried a dummy on you.

‘Your little face was screwed up and red and when you cried all I could see was your gums.

‘My poor darling. What’s bothering you?

I took you out onto the balcony and held you and we both looked at the black cockatoos and listened to the ocean.

Turia went on to say that she started to sing ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley to her son.

‘And you looked right at me.
 And you smiled.
 And you laughed.
As if to say: “Mum, don’t worry. Everything’s gonna be alright”,’ Turia continued.

‘So now, whenever I’m stressed, overwhelmed, anxious or just flustered as f***, I pick you up, sing that song, breathe in your intoxicating scent and remind myself not to get too far ahead of right here, right now.

‘Stay in the moment Turia, and enjoy each and every one of them.’
