Police are investigating a tragic house fire at Singleton, NSW, where three children died overnight.

At around 3.30am (Wednesday 26 June 2019), officers from Hunter Valley Police District were called to Brittliffe Close after reports a house was well alight.

Officers from Fire and Rescue NSW attended and are in the process of extinguishing the blaze.

A 31-year-old woman and an eight-year-old boy were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation, before being taken to Singleton Hospital. Their current conditions are not known.

Two girls, whose ages are yet to be confirmed, were taken to Singleton Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

Another boy, whose age is not confirmed, was located deceased inside the home.

A neighbour, who spoke to Seven’s Sunrise, says he was woken by screaming,

‘I heard screaming and we were like “what’s that”. Then we went out the front and we were like “that’s our neighbour’s house.”‘

When it is deemed safe to do so, police and fire investigators will examine the home to identify where and how the fire started.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
