A string of nurses from Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, have been fired after a series of photos and videos were shared online of them ‘flipping off’ babies and moving them dangerously up and down to rap music.
The various images and videos were subsequently shared to Facebook and have now gone viral.
In one of the images a nurse is shown displaying her middle finger to a newborn, with the caption: ‘How I currently feel about these mini Satans.’
Another video depicts a female staffer in gloves and medical scrubs holding an infant by the armpit, moving the arms and body as rap music is played in the background.
The hospital has since released a statement to Facebook stating, ‘Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s Commanding Officer sends: We are aware of a video / photos posted online. It’s outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and cannot be tolerated. We have identified those involved– two junior enlisted corpsmen (not nurses). They have been removed from providing patient care and they will be handled by the legal system and military justice. We’ve notified the patient’s parents.’
Captain Brenda Malone, spokeswoman for the US Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery said the women are under investigation, ‘Once investigation is complete, appropriate action will be taken.’
