Teletubbies star tragically found dead in the street

British actor Simon Shelton Barnes who played Tinky Winky on hit children’s show Teletubbies has tragically died at the age of 52 after reportedly collapsing on a London street.

Simon played purple favourite Tinky Winky who was famous for carrying a magic bag between 1998-2001. He took over the role from actor Dave Thompson who was fired from the children show.

Family and friends confirmed the sad news of his death by paying tribute to the late star on social media.

John Simmit who played the green Teletubby Dipsy remembered his co-star on Twitter by captioning a throwback photo with the message: ‘What a week! RIP Simon Shelton aka Tinky Winky: remembering the many good times, Rest easy.’

Teletubbies official Twitter also honoured the father-of-three with an image from the show with the caption: ‘Very sad to hear that actor Simon Shelton, who played Tinky Winky in the late 90’s, has sadly passed away “Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Big hugs.’

The stars cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
