The teenager who escaped from the California ‘house of horrors’ and raised the alarm which led to her siblings being rescued and her parents being arrested had a secret YouTube channel.
The 17-year-old daughter of David and Louise Turpin was one of 13 children living in squalid conditions and suffering alleged abuse at the hands of her parents.
David and Louise Turpin have been charged with 12 counts of torture and numerous additional counts of abuse and false imprisonment. Mr Turpin is also facing a single charge of a lewd act against a child by force or fear.
Now, it’s emerged that the emaciated teenager had a secret YouTube channel and used an alias to record her own songs, possibly describing the harsh living conditions.
‘You blame me for everything, you blame me in every way, you blame me for what they say, what they say,’ she can be heard singing in the videos, released by Good Morning America.
One video shows a pile of dirty clothes on the floor with some dirt staining the door while the family’s two dogs can be seen in one of the clips.
The teen’s most recent video was reportedly uploaded seven days before she escaped her home in Perris, California, in January.
The Turpins were arrested on January 14 after the emaciated teenage girl climbed out of a window of the house and called police.
Officers found 12 children, ranging in age from 2 to 29 inside, with some shackled to their beds and showing signs of malnourishment and severe abuse.
Their 29-year-old daughter was so malnourished that police initially believed she was a minor.
David and Louise Turpin face life in prison, but have pleaded not guilty.
