Tributes have been paid to a student who died after reportedly falling out of the emergency window on a party bus.
Police said college student Polly Miranda Rogers was riding in the chartered bus on Tuesday when she fell out of the window and was hit by two vehicles.
Police said the bus had left the University of North Carolina campus and was headed to a bar at the time, reports claimed.
Friends of the popular student – who was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity – have since set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her family.
‘Polly was an emerging leader in our chapter and one of the friendliest people you would ever meet,’ Savannah Ward wrote on behalf of Jennifer Dandison on the fundraising page.
‘She could always be found in the common areas of the house greeting sisters after their day at classes and making sure their day was going well. She will be missed fiercely.’
‘This tragedy has left unexpected expenses placed on the Rogers family. Please consider donating to help in memorial costs,’ she added.
‘Considering the circumstances surrounding Polly’s passing, the need for donations is urgent.
‘Any donation amount will help, but if you are unable to donate I appreciate you taking the time to read and share this message.’
Zeta Tau Alpha paid tribute to Polly on its own Facebook page.
‘It is with very heavy hearts that Zeta Tau Alpha mourns the loss of Polly Miranda Rogers… who died Tuesday,’ a post read.
‘Polly was an emerging leader in her chapter, serving as a New Member assistant, the Signs Chair and on the Recruitment Committee.
‘All of ZTA sends its sincere condolences to Polly’s family during this most difficult time.’
A heartfelt poem on Polly’s GoFundMe page read:
‘May the angels protect you
Trouble neglect you
And heaven accept you when it’s time to go home
May you always have plenty
The glass never empty
Know in your belly
You’re never alone’
