When Miriam Ben-Shalom and her partner rolled up to the Hotel Metro they were suddenly set upon by two young men of the local gang – the Cut Throat Mob.

‘They probably thought two little old ladies, one who walks with a walker, (are) easy marks. Guess again,’ Miriam told WISN.

She saw the hotel valet tussling with one of the young men and decided it was time to put an end to it.

‘They’re fighting and he’s trying to carjack us, so I tackled the jerk,’ she said.

Soon a Jeep rolled up, and Miriam found herself being threatened at gunpoint that if she didn’t let the struggling teenager go that she would be shot.

‘Now he’s going to go to jail because we knew what we were doing. We knew what to look for, and we knew how to identify them. It’s like other citizens can do this, too,’ she said.
