It is estimated at 16 dogs – four of which are pregnant – have been rescued from a house in Melbourne where they suffered serious neglect.
A further 15 dogs are expected to be rescued today.
‘It wasn’t a very nice ordeal that they’ve come from,’ Marisa Debattista from Second Chance Animal Rescue told 7 News.
‘They are very lucky to be in our care at the moment.’
The rescues are part of an ongoing investigation.
If found guilty of animal cruelty the people responsible could spend as much as two years in jail.
