Police alert as trick or treating children are given drugs

Kids were saved a nasty shock thanks to vigilant parents.

A police warning has been issued in the US after crystal meth was found in trick or treatlollies.

The disturbing news comes after every parents nightmare came true for one family overnight, when a child returned home from trick or treating with a bag of ‘ice’, also known as crystal meth, in their collection of Halloween lollies gathered from neighbours.

Police in the state of Wisconsin are on alert after the finding in a local community, which has been confirmed after laboratory testing .

‘It looked like a crystal type substance, subsequently was tested, and confirmed it was Methamphetamine,’ confirmed local official Ben Warrington to Fox 11 News.

Fortunately the drugs were not consumed as they were spotted by vigilant parents – who called the police.

Now other parents in Wisconsin are being warned to be on the look out – although there has yet to be a repeat of the incident.

‘My first instinct was to check, and make sure that they’re okay,’ one parent told the US station.

It is unclear whether the drugs were handed out deliberately, or if they were slipped in among the Halloween candy by accident.

Police are now asking local residents to be wary ahead of another night of trick or treating.
