A mum-of-four has claimed her breast implants left her looking like a real life ZOMBIE after her body began rejecting them.
Alyssa Kirk, 27, underwent a breast enlargement in 2016 in a bid to improve her confidence but says just six months later that her health began to decline.
She claims her implants were ‘ruining her life’ – and believes they caused her to appear severely pain, to suffer memory loss, fainting and was bed-bound for months despite doctors dismissing her claims.
Alyssa, from Brisbane, Australia, is sharing her story for the first time to raise awareness of the risks that may come with implants.
She underwent surgery in June of this year to remove them – and now says: “The past three years have been horrendous.
“I always planned to have a boob job when I was finished having children so when I had my fourth child, Indianna, then one, I got an uplift and breast enlargement.
“I breastfed all of my children and it made my natural breasts appear saggy, I was a 32C and went up to a 32F with implants.
“I wanted them to make me feel confident but instead I felt fuzzy and faint – my memory was so bad I thought I had dementia.
“I would be searching the house high and low for something like my bank card and then realise it was in my hand.
“I felt like I was going insane, my mind was muddled, my face would go numb and I had no colour at all.
“People said to me that I looked like a ‘walking corpse’ and I agreed, I would randomly faint and had no energy.
“I’ve lost count of how many times I visited the doctors; I had every scan and test possible including ECGs, thyroid checks, CT scans, MRI scan and they all came back perfectly fine.
“I was terrified and frustrated that I had no answers despite over 50 doctor appointments.”
Alyssa refused to believe what the doctors had said as she was getting sicker by the day – she physically couldn’t look after her children Cohen, 9, Cameron, 6, Liam, 5 and Indianna, 4.
She reached out on social media and found multiple women with breast implants and were experiencing the same symptoms.
Stay at home mum, Alyssa adds: “I read posts from girls who were being dismissed from the doctors despite being chronically ill like myself.
“It became clear that the breast implants were the cause – I spent over £6000 [$11,000] but if they were left in any longer they could have cost me my life.
“Every day I was terrified that I might die, my health was getting worse by the day causing me to have severe anxiety and panic attacks.
“I cried with happiness when I woke up from surgery as I could see so much clearer again and I knew I had made the best decision of my life.
“It has been a week since I got the implants removed and I feel one million times better already.
“The colour in my face immediately returned and I no longer need to sit down in the shower from being so weak.
“I have realised I actually liked my body before I had surgery and I should have left them the way they was.
“I now know that you should love your body the way it is and cherish every second of being healthy.
“I can now live my life again and independently look after my children.”
