Mum warns parents about the dangers of children on trampolines

'Our lives have been turned upside down'
Facebook - Kait Ellen

A mum has shared a heartfelt post on Facebook this week about the dangers of young children using trampolines.

The post by Kait Ellen, which has since gone viral, details how her three-year-old son, Colton, broke his femur while bouncing on the trampolines with his parents.

Now confined to a hip spica cast until his little body has healed, Kait had no idea of the dangers involved with using the trampoline until she was recently informed by a surgeon at the hospital.

Sharing the news with other parents, Kait wrote ‘According to the America Academy of Paediatrics and the America Academy of Orthopedics Surgeons, children under the age of 6 should never use a trampoline.’

‘This is due to the fact their fragile bones are not meant to withstand the repetitive pressure from jumping,’ she added.

‘We hope by sharing his story it will prevent a child and their family from experiencing the trauma and heartbreak associated with trampoline injuries in young children.’ she finished the post.

We’re wishing little Colton a speedy recovery!
