A US mother of five has been charged after she was caught injecting faeces into her son’s IV bag while he was in hospital receiving treatment for cancer.
Tiffany Alberts, 41, of Wolcott, Indiana, is charged with six counts of aggravated battery and one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, WXIN reports.
Alberts’ 15-year-old son was being treated for leukaemia when he developed several infections that hospital staff couldn’t explain.
After placing a camera in the boy’s room, staff captured Alberts injecting the IV bag. Tests revealed blood cultures with organisms that are normally found in faeces.
Alberts later confessed to police saying she did it to get her son moved to another unit at the hospital where she believed his cancer would receive better treatment.
