A furious mother has taken aim at an airline company, after she and her baby were kicked off a flight because of their shared skin condition.
Jordan Flake and her one-year-old son Jackson were left ‘humiliated’ when they were asked to leave an American Airlines plane bound for Dallas, Texas.
Both mum and baby have a condition which causes red, blotchy ‘fish-scale’ skin – called Ichthyosis.
Speaking about her ordeal on Love What Matters, Jordan said an airline employee approached her on the plane and asked about her ‘rash’.
‘He then quietly asked me about ‘my rash’ and if I had a letter from a doctor stating it was OK for me to fly,’ she said.
‘I explained to him it was called Ichthyosis, a genetic skin condition I share with my son.’

The male attendant then returned to Jordan and her son, apologised and told them they ‘wouldn’t be able to fly’.
‘I have never been so humiliated in my life!’ she said. ‘I shouldn’t have to explain myself!’
The pair were escorted off the plane and other arrangements had to be made for them to fly with another airline.

‘If I am not to judge people based on their gender, skin colour, or relationship status, then I should not be judged based off of the way I was born,’ she added.
American Airlines has since apologised to Jordan and her son.
‘Our Customer Relations team has already spoken to her directly and upgraded them on their flights,’ the company said in a statement.
‘We will also be refunding the cost of her trip as well.’
