Would you wear this to your child's wedding?

A wedding photo has gone viral after the mother-in-law wore a bridal dress to her son’s nuptials.

The snap was uploaded to a wedding-shaming Facebook group by a ‘distant family member’, who attended the ceremony.

In the picture, the woman – whose identity has been kept anonymous – can be seen wearing a lacy floor-length number, which looked very similar to the bride’s own dress.

Shocked critics commented on the post, with one describing it as a ‘murderous offence’.

With another simply adding, ‘Why the hell would she do that?’

And although the dress was a different colour to the bride’s, people still saw it as a big faux-pas.

One Facebook user added, ‘Also yes, it’s ice blue, but it’s still horribly wrong for a mother-in-law to wear at the wedding. It still looks like a bridal gown. My MIL wore ice blue too but it was clearly not a bridal gown.’

“I’d have refused to have a photo with her, to be honest,’ another outraged.

But other people couldn’t see the fuss with the picture, saying, ‘I honestly don’t see the problem. It’s not like people don’t know who the bride is..Wouldn’t bother me what so ever.

It’s wedding etiquette not to wear a bridal-style or white/cream dress to someone else’s wedding.

And most guests will opt for a bold-hued dress so they don’t upstage the bride.

We wonder what the bride thought about her mother-in-law’s outfit choice?
