An anonymous woman claims her husband watched on as she suffered through years of failed IVF treatments, before finally confessing he had a vasectomy before meeting her.
Her dreams of having a family were shattered after 29 failed pregnancy tests and three years of unsuccessful IVF, even blaming herself for having Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
Recounting the story in a heartbreaking Reddit post, the woman revealed her husband’s cruel lie had been the reason behind their infertility.
‘After three years of painful, invasive and expensive fertility treatment, I find out my husband had a vasectomy before we met,’ she wrote.
‘Last month I looked at all our test results and it hit me that his zero sperm count several times on sperm analysis can’t be normal and suspected vasectomy.’
After confronting him, her husband admitted to it – before confessing he had hoped it would ‘reverse itself naturally’.
‘He let me endure 29 negative pregnancy tests and numerous hormone injections and he never thought to tell me,’ she added.
While crushed, the woman decided to let her husband explain why he had a vasectomy.
He admitted to having the procedure done during a previous marriage to avoid his ex-wife ‘trapping’ him with a baby.
‘He also explained that he didn’t tell me because he loved me and was worried I would leave,’ she added.
‘So I’ve laid out the options: he gets it reversed, he agrees to me using donor sperm or we get a divorce.’
Unsurprisingly, the Reddit commenters were united in their rage against the husband.
‘This guy is straight up TRASH. Certified absolute garbage. How do you let someone you supposedly love go through all that????’ one person said.
‘He probably doesn’t want kids and was too cowardly to tell her so. Who knows what else this scumbag is hiding?’ another wrote.
Others simply told the woman to leave her husband and don’t look back.
‘I hope she leaves him. This is unbelievable. A lot of people I know with PCOS are already very stressed about their chances of being able to conceive and this asshole made it worse for his wife,’ one said.
