A man who attacked his wife and her secret lover after tracking them with a smartphone app has been jailed.
Robert Andrew Mann, 30, flew into a rage brandishing a tyre lever when he attacked his wife, Jaimi-Lee Atkinson, and her lover, Jeremy Sampson.
9 News reports that Mann, who had been married to Aitkinson for 13 years, became aware of his wife’s relationship with Sampson and used the Find My iPhone app to track her movements, following the pair from Tamworth to Sydney on June 21 this year.
He then used the tyre lever to smash the window of the car they were in and repeatedly punched Simpson in the face and body.
Shocked onlookers even captured the violent attack on camera. When police arrived, they were forced to use tasers to arrest Mann.
He was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of intentionally destroying/damaging property and driving on a suspended licence.
But, despite the drama, Mann appeared at court appearing to have reconciled with his wife, who was by his side.
After pleading guilty to four charges, Magistrate Jenny Giles sentenced Mann to 12 months’ jail, with a non-parole period of six months. He has now appealed this sentence and was able to walk free until the next hearing in September.
