An attorney in America ran out of court mid-trial when his trousers started smoking and burning.
Stephen Gutierrez returned to the court with singed pants, saying his e-cigarette had sparked in his pocket, reports WPXI.
Bizarrely, Gutierrez was in court that day defending a man, Claudy Charles, charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to his own car.
The defense attempted to argue that the fire erupted spontaneously.
Prosecutors claim that the ‘pants on fire’ was a stunt to attempt to convince the judge that fires break out all the time.

If it was, it didn’t work. Charles was found guilty of starting the fire.
