A teenage girl who was raped twice in three months when a sex predator broke into her home had a harrowing victim impact statement read in court.

The 14-year-old was sleeping on June 17, 2015 when Corey David Fowler, 35, first crept into her room in Christchurch and sexually assaulted her, the NZ Herald reported.

Then, less than three months later, on August 12, 2015, he snuck through a bedroom window and threatened the same girl with a knife before he sexually assaulted and raped her.

‘I feel he has taken away my strength and dignity,’ she had written in the statement that was read aloud.

The girl, now 16, also spoke of how the attack had changed her life.

She had been a popular, positive student who ‘believed I could do anything I wanted’.

But she’s been left ‘scared and disgusted’ and doesn’t think she will ever get over it.

The girl said she has lost focus and failed her last exams and she suffers recurring nightmares of the assault, which replays what happened ‘frame by frame’.

At an earlier hearing, Fowler of Phillipstown, New Zealand, admitted eight charges, including two counts of rape, two of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, attempted sexual violation, sexual conduct with a young person, burglary with a weapon, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

He was jailed for 12 years nine months at the High Court in Christchurch on Thursday. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register.
