Gold Coast holiday makers hoping for a day of fun at one of the country’s most popular theme park destinations were today instead exposed to screaming ambulance sirens, with a fleet of emergency responders rushing to the complex that includes Movie World after an horrific accident.
According to the Gold Coast Bulletin, a construction worker at Village Roadshow Film Studios, which directly adjoins Movie World, suffered a ‘penetrating injury to the groin’ – reportedly becoming impaled on a drill.
Fire fighters were reportedly required to cut the power tool from the man’s body before taking him to Gold Coast University Hospital.
The man is now said to be in a stable condition.
At least three ambulances and two fire trucks attended the scene.
