The board game famous for tearing families apart is making moves to modernise with Hasbro voting in a new set of pieces for Monopoly.

A worldwide contest is underway with fans of the game voting for which new pieces to include – and which to ‘boot’ in the upcoming re-release of the game.
The first casualty is the thimble, which was added in 1935 and has now been rejected to name way for new playable pieces.
It’s been suggested that rubber ducks, emojis, or even the humble hashtag could appear in the future.
Winners of the comp will be announced next month and the game will be out by the end of the year.
