A gunman has reportedly opened fire at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Multiple witnesses report several people have been killed.
A man allegedly entered a mosque in Hagley Park, Christchurch and emptied at least two magazine.
An office worker close to the area has confirmed his building is in lockdown.
Former president of the Muslim Association of Canterbury Mohammed Jama confirmed a man with a gun entered the mosque at 1.40pm on Friday.
Canterbury Police confirmed on Twitter they are responding to a ‘critical incident’.
Police have urged people to avoid the area around Deans Avenue, in the centre of the city.
