Gabriela Brandao could not contain her amusement when she discovered that her devout grandmother had spent years praying to a statue she thought was of Saint Anthony of Padua only to learn it was in fact Elrond, the Lord of Rivendell, played in the Lord of the Rings films by Aussie actor Hugo Weaving.
Sharing the photo of the figurine to Facebook, Gabriela calls it the ‘funniest discovery of 2016.’
Apparently it took a while to explain to her grandmother who exactly the statue showed, but she eventually understood.
The family replaced her statue with a real Saint Anthony – one without pointy ears.
