Happy Queensland parents have welcomed a record breaking baby girl.

The joyful father shared a photo to Facebook of his newborn, who weighed a massive 6.02 kilograms at birth.

Mason Macdonald captioned the photo with: ‘Welcome to the world and the family ya massive newborn.’

Despite being a week early, Maisie Lily Macdonald’s 6.02 kg weight broke Rockhampton Hospital records by being the largest baby to be born at the hospital. Maisie is also the third largest baby to ever be born in QLD!

According to News Corp, Queensland’s largest baby record belongs to Oliver Stokes, who in 2013 weighed 6.76 at the time of birth followed by Jake McGuire who was born in 2015 and weighed 6.04 kg.

Breaking baby weight records seem to run in the family as Maisie’s 17-month-old sister, Rose was also a heavy baby as she weighed 5.2 kilograms at birth.
