The father of a baby boy who was left to die on a boat ramp 12 years ago has pleaded guilty to his manslaughter.
Shane Arthur Simpson, 51, admitted to leaving Baden Bond, aged only 22 months, on a boat ramp in May of 2007.
Baden’s mother Dina Colleen Bond, 45, pleaded guilty to accessory to manslaughter at Brisbane Supreme Court, ABC News reports.
Little Baden’s body was never found and his official cause of death remains unknown.
Simpson’s defence said he was addicted to methamphetamine at the time Baden was abandoned at the boat ramp.
‘I was tired of caring for him,’ the court heard Simpson told officers, according to Nine News.
Baden was born with methamphetamine in his system and was taken into the care of Queensland Department of Child Safety.
He was then released back into his parents’ care in October of 2006.
Simpson and Bond will be sentenced at a later date.
