Eric Huska, 58, from Chicago, Illinois, is accused of locking his wife Laura, 57, in the hot tub while she was still in the water.

Video surveillance reportedly shows Huska ‘partially close the lib of the tub’, before his wife struggled against the cover.

Huska then returned 30 minutes later to find her floating in the water, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Laura was rushed to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Deputy Chief Todd Wolff described the events as a ‘tragic accident’.

‘Unfortunately the woman died. Alcohol and hot tubs don’t mix,’ he told reporters.

Huska faced court on Tuesday with bail set at $10,0000.
