When Erin Hatzi discovered her red Subaru missing from her driveway she was shocked. Luckily she had surveillance cameras trained on the front of her house, so went there to find some answers.
What she saw surprised her. Instead of a black-clad burglar jimmying her door and hot-wiring her car, she was a woman calmly walk up to her car, get in, and after a few minutes drive off.
‘We were really confused because it didn’t seem like the normal actions of a car thief,’ Erin told KGW.
After filing a police report anyway Erin was astonished when her car reappeared the very next day – along with some money for fuel and the oddest note she could have hoped to receive which she posted on Facebook.
‘Hello, so sorry I stole your car. I sent my friend with my key to pick up my red Subaru…and she came back with your car.’
Turns out older Subaru models keys can work in different cars!
Erin says everyone parted ways embarrassed, but happy.
’It’s stupid and it makes no sense. But it happened.’
