Former Prime Minister Bob Hawke has been rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney.
After being admitted to hospital, Hawke’s wife Blanche d’Alpuget announced he was doing ‘okay.’
It is unclear why the former prime minister of Australia was admitted to hospital.
Hawke, the 23rd Prime Minister of Australia, is regularly described as the nation’s most popular. He served from 1983 to 1991, leading the Australian Labor Party to four consecutive electoral victories.
His major achievements in office include the creation of Medicare, the formation of APEC, and the initiation of national super, Nine News reported.
Hawke was held the world record for the fastest drinking of beer, managing to chug 1.4 litres in just 11 seconds.
In addition to formerly holding the record for the fastest drinking of beer, he also launched his own range of Australian beer company called Hawke’s Brewing Co.
Mr Hawke celebrated his 88th birthday, in December last year.
We wish him a speedy recovery!
