A best man has made one of the worst imaginable mistakes during his best mate’s wedding when he proposed to his own girlfriend mid-ceremony.
In a letter written to an advice column called Dear Prudence, an angry bride has vented her frustrations about the ordeal.
‘The setting was beautiful, everyone seemed happy, our families were overjoyed,’ she wrote.
‘The entire atmosphere felt moving. So moving in fact that “John” [the best man] stopped mid-ceremony to propose to his longtime girlfriend, “Jane”, and reveal her pregnancy.’
The bride went on to explain that she wasn’t even able to hear her husband’s vows or the rest of the ceremony over the flurry of excitement that the proposal had created among guests.
Later “John” went on to apologise during the toasts for his earlier behaviour, before reportedly discussing his future with his new fiancé and requesting the band play a song for their special dance.
‘I’ve never been an attention hog and wouldn’t have minded if he’d proposed after the ceremony,’ the bride continued. ‘But weeks later I am still seething.’
Her husband has allegedly not spoken to his friend since the wedding, however, some of the group’s mutual friends have said he should get over it.
So, would you be able to forgive a guest for doing the same? Let us know in the comments!
