The Perth teenager who was detained in Bali on suspicion of carrying drugs has been released.
Test results of the white powder allegedly found on Jamie Murphy confirmed the substance was a mixture of caffeine and headache tablets, The Australian reports.
‘I have instructed Kuta police chief to release (Jamie Murphy) immediately because we have found no evidence against him,’ said Bali police chief Sugeng Priyanto.
The ‘very lucky’ teen, who arrived in Bali with friends on Sunday, was released from Kuta Police Station around 9.30pm last night.
In a statement to the press, Priyanto said the negative result was a first for them.
He added that Murphy told police he purchased the bag of white powder from someone in the street. However, the teen’s lawyers denied these claims.
