Sad news this morning as a senior Australian diplomat who was celebrating the yes vote passed away after a drunken game of ‘trust’ went terribly wrong in New York city.
According to Newscorp, Police have confirmed 30-year-old Julian Simpson died after falling from a seventh-floor balcony to the second floor of his apartment building on Clinton St in the Lower East Side.
It is reported that Simpson and his wife enjoyed dinner and drinks with a group of friends before they returned back home and went up to the roof to the take in the views of the Empire State Building, which was lit up in rainbow colours in celebration of Australia’s same-sex marriage vote.
Mr Simpson was Australia’s second secretary to the United Nations. The politician resides with his wife at the Lower East Side apartment building where he was tragically killed.
At this stage, Police revealed to news.com.au that the incident was being treated as an accident. An official report from the medical examiner’s office will confirm the cause of death.
