A pressure cooker cold exclusively to Aldi has been recalled after six people were injured this year.
All six people reportedly recieved second or third-degree burns while using the recalled Crofton Chef’s Collection 6L Pressure Cooker by H&H Asia.
The pressure cooker was sold exclusively at Aldi stores in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia for $60.
A recall was initially announced in August but only a quarter of the cookers were returned.
“With up to 6602 of these dangerous pressure cookers still in kitchens across Australia, it’s clear our product safety recall system is broken,” says CHOICE Head of Campaigns & Policy Sarah Agar.
Customers who purchased the pressure cooker are advised to stop using it immediately.
“We are absolutely committed to providing our customers with safe products of the highest quality,” an Aldi spokesperson said in an emailed statement to SBS.
“All of ALDI’s products undergo rigorous testing prior to being sold in our stores and we work closely with our suppliers to meet specifications.
“As soon as we became aware of the fault with the CROFTON Chef’s Collection Pressure Cooker, ALDI and our supplier, H&H Asia, conducted a voluntary public recall.
