This week in the category of “news you can’t look away from” comes a story moviemakers could only dream about.
Betrayal, subterfuge and chilli in a vagina.
According to reports today, a young woman in Vietnam has become uniquely vindictive after discovering her husband’s affair.
Ly Chanel, 23, from northeast Vietnam, has allegedly punished her husband’s mistress with chilli peppers - by putting them where the sun doesn't shine.
Chanel, who is three-months pregnant, enlisted the help of four friends before following husband Chien Keo, 24, to a motel.
With her friends holding down her husband's mistress, Chanel opened a bag of red bird’s eye chilies (200,000 scoville units) and shoved them inside the woman’s privates.
To put this in perspective, the humble jalapeno rings in somewhere between 2500 and 800 scoville units.
The group have also posted pictures online of the punishment but received backlash with commenters asking why the mistress was targeted, but not the husband.
Chanel has responded by placing most of the blame on the mistress - saying the woman has destroyed the family.
"Women can forgive easily but they can never forget. Jealousy is painful. She will know this. There are people who hate me now, but life is like that, you cannot please everyone."
Police said no complaint had been made from the alleged victim but prosecutors said Ly Chanel could still be fined over what is pretty clearly a horrendously painful and humiliating assault.
Lawyer Giang Hong Thanh has commented on the case:
'If chili smears cause injury to another woman's genitalia the wife may be dealt with under Article 104 of the Penal Code may be subject to administrative sanctions and a fine of from £70 to £100.'
