A photographer’s plea to wedding guests has gone viral
Everyone wants to capture a beautiful wedding on camera, but one photographer has shared how guests are inadvertently spoiling the magic of the day.
Wedding photographer Hannah Stanley shared two images from a client’s wedding that were meant to capture the moment the bride and her escort appeared at the foot of the aisle.
Instead, it caught a wedding guest blocking the view with her iPhone as she too tried to take a snap.
‘To the girl with the iPhone,’ Hannah wrote in a Facebook post that’s been shared more than 170,000 times. ‘Not only did you ruin my shot, but you took this moment away from the groom, father of the bride and the bride,’ she said.
Hannah said she didn’t believe the woman would treasure the photo in the same way the happy couple would have. ‘Guests, please stop viewing weddings you attend through a screen but instead turn OFF your phone, and enjoy the ceremony,’ she urged.
Many commenters supported Hannah’s stance. ‘I actually agree with the photographer….because every time I go to a school event I can NEVER see my daughter perform because there is always someone in front of me holding their phone up,’ wrote one frustrated parent.
But others disagreed. ‘Too many rules, too many don’t do this or that, what I see here is some one cared enough to take a picture!’ said one commenter.
And photographers also weighed in. ‘As a wedding photographer, it’s our job to work around the obstacles,’ said one.
